Ukrainian composer, poet, kobzar, bandura and lira player — a true multi-instrumentalist. Also a textologist, musicologist, and historian of music. Leader of the musical ensemble Khoreia Kozatska.
EDUCATION
Studied at the Kosiv College of Applied and Decorative Arts, then at the Lviv Institute of Applied Arts (Department of Art History). Later transferred to the Ukrainian Academy of Arts in Kyiv.
AWARDS AND HONORS
Honored Artist of Ukraine, People's Artist of Ukraine, and Laureate of the Shevchenko National Prize.
REPERTOIRE
A significant portion of his repertoire consists of dumy (sung epic poems), ancient kants from the Pochaiv Lavra, so-called Zaporizhian songs, Cossack psalms, knightly songs, captivity laments, devotional and prayer songs, spiritual psalms and kants, as well as both sacred and secular lyrical works.
INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY
Has performed in Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, and other countries around the world.
