The Academic Symphony Orchestra is the leading musical ensemble resident at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. The orchestra was founded in September 1995. Its first conductor was Leonid Tykhonov. In 1996, the orchestra was led by Mykola Dyadyura.
EDUCATION
The orchestra members are graduates of the National Music Academy of Ukraine.
AWARDS AND HONORS
On February 24, 2024, the orchestra’s concert, held in partnership with the Philharmonie de Paris, was broadcast in France, symbolizing the power of Ukrainian art in the fight for freedom and independence.
REPERTOIRE
The orchestra’s wide repertoire covers not only the best examples of world classical music, impressionist and modernist works, but also the unique Ukrainian musical heritage. The orchestra actively promotes Ukrainian orchestral music, performing works by Borys Liatoshynsky, Yevhen Stankovych, Valentyn Sylvestrov, Myroslav Skoryk, Viktoriya Polova, and other contemporary composers.
INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY
The orchestra regularly tours countries in Europe, Asia, and North America.
