On Saturday, 17 August, St Sophia Cathedral is to host a concert by the Kyiv Camerata National Ensemble of Soloists, featuring the star, Austrian cellist Jörg Zwicker.
An Austrian cellist, conductor, educator and lecturer, Jörg Zwicker founded his first Early Music Ensemble named Musica Antiqua Graz at the age of 16. In 1992 he founded the internationally renowned professional baroque orchestra Capella Leopoldina with which he toured all over the continent. For almost 30 years, Jörg has been teaching at the University of Music Graz and also at the Department of Early Music at the Private University of Vienna.Based on his experiences of around 40 years of stage, extreme sports and special education (Jörg is also educated as a mental coach, neuro-athletic trainer and trainer for bio- and neurofeedback), he is training professional musicians and sports athletes in peak performance, stage fright, and concentration.
Jörg Zwicker is also giving masterclasses all over Europe, and this time he will come to Kyiv to give his class to our Ukrainian musicians. After the masterclasses, Jörg Zwicker will perform a concert with the Kyiv Camerata, a unique ensemble where every musician is a virtuoso and a soloist. Promoting Ukrainian music in all its distinctive styles, trends and schools of composition, the Kyiv Camerata constantly performs at leading venues across Europe. This spring, our famous ensemble received a full house and a standing ovation at Carnegie Hall in New York. At the Bouquet Kyiv Stage 2024 festival, Jörg Zwicker and the Kyiv Camerata will perform a concert of early and contemporary music that draws numerous parallels between different centuries and European cultural traditions. The works of contemporary composers are specially selected to include compositional techniques and quotations from early music.
