Since ancient times, the towel has embodied the cultural memory of the Ukrainian people, symbolized the native land, and manifested the mother’s warmth. The towel was an essential attribute of many rituals: brides stood on the towel, it was used to welcome guests with bread and salt, people gave the towel to those who were leaving for a long journey, and the towel offered blessings.
The towel is a guardian. A symbol of sanctity, purity, and protection.Throughout the four days of the festival, everyone will have the opportunity to join and participate in creating a unique towel using the 12th-century technique of embroidery.
On the final day of the festival, there will be a performance - the presentation of the towel accompanied by the music of the bandura, performed by Mariana Krut.
May the collectively created towel become our shared Guardian. The duration of the masterclass is 2 hours.
