"Red Viburnum": A Memorial Event for Ukrainian Artists Who Perished in the War. The planting of a viburnum shrub in the garden of Kyiv's Sophia with the performance of a choir of boys and young men from Kyiv State Music Lyceum named after Mykola Lysenko.
Perhaps the strongest feeling that fills every Ukrainian daily is GRATITUDE. Gratitude to the Ukrainian Defenders, thanks to whom we can live, stand against the enemy, and fight for our future.
This year's Bouquet Kyiv Stage 2023- its idea, every event, and even an opportunity to hold it- is imbued with profound Gratitude to Ukrainian angels-Defenders, particularly to the artists who gave up their art and went to the frontlines to defend Ukraine against Russian aggression.
Creation and conception – new meanings, new ideas, and artworks- are inherent in artists’ nature. Violence, cruelty, and destruction do not usually come naturally to them. Yet it is artists that are the people of ideas, drivers of change, and individuals who shape the future. That's why so many Ukrainian artists, from the first days of the war, took weapons instead of paintbrushes, violins, or acting scripts and became Warriors.
Unfortunately, many artists sacrificed the most valuable thing they had – their lives – for Ukraine, and this irreparable loss impacts their families, friends, and Ukrainian culture as a whole. Today, these Heroes should be participants in our festival, representing Ukrainian culture to the world or engaged in creating new projects, but their lives were cut short by war...
The lives of Artists who perished in the great war will go on in their works, in our responsibility towards them, and in our loving memory of them. Artists sacrificed their lives for ours; let us be worthy of their memory.
THE EVENT IS FREE - with an admission ticket to the Sofiivska Square Museum Complex (300 UAH for regular admission, 150 UAH for discounted admission).
