“Reflections and Glimmers” — Exhibition by Oleksandr Dubovyk
In his new exhibition Reflections and Glimmers, Ukrainian artist Oleksandr Dubovyk works at the edge of perception, logic, and being — balancing between classical metaphysics and quantum modernity. Here, art does not assert; it creates a field of uncertainty, where image and meaning flicker like echoes of something elusive.
Core idea: our reality is only a reflection — the shimmer of a deeper essence.
Dubovyk draws on Platonic philosophy and quantum physics, where certainty dissolves and the structure of the world emerges as chaotic and elusive — a singularity in motion. We live in an era of colossal transformations without realizing the scale of the cataclysm. Reality disappears, transforming into energy; physics becomes ever more complex and utterly unpredictable. Fantastic ideas arise daily, destroying old rules and opening a deeper, wider perspective. The new vision of new physics enters our existence, our art, and our understanding of the world. We have already crossed into a new epoch, a new paradigm.
The exhibition consists of several conceptual layers: Bouquet, Phantoms, and new, previously unseen works. Each direction has its own semantics and language, yet they permeate and argue with each other, forming a new whole — a quantum vision. Dubovyk asserts: we do not live in facts, but in reflections — our world is made of images, intuitions, and myths. Reality is what we imagine it to be. Glimmers are the sensations of hope and the “meaningfulness” of human life.
Bouquet — the Higgs boson of cultureAt the heart of the exhibition is the Bouquet. It is not flowers. It is a symbol, a structure, a metaphysical center — the point from which everything becomes visible. In this sense, the Bouquet is the “Higgs boson” of culture, an invisible force that gives weight to meaning. It is centripetal, gathering quantum ideas into a vast, unfathomable form of being. It is the Absolute — tangible yet unattainable. Its form — a combination of circle and square — carries profound symbolism; according to the artist, it is an abstract image of the Universe, a visual synthesis of energy, order, chaos, high meaning, and unity.
In two halls of the Khlibnia, a small-scale but grand-idea exhibition unfolds. These works do not provide answers — only reflections and glimmers, hints of something great that exists beyond our comprehension.
The exhibition runs until September 14.
