The programme presented by the chamber orchestra of domra players features works by composers from different eras. Like an energetic ray of light travelling through centuries, the musical waves in these works echo humanity’s eternal pursuit of light, love, and beauty as expressions of harmony. The whimsical and joyful echoes of the Baroque… The refined elegance of Classicism… The unstoppable spirit of Romanticism… The emotional depth and power of contemporary Ukrainian music.

Through the magic of the domra strings, invisible messages always find their way into human souls and hearts.

String orchestras of various kinds have existed in different cultures since ancient times. Today, violin and mandolin orchestras are widespread and well known. The chamber orchestra “Lik Domer” belongs to this family of ensembles and is one of the few orchestras consisting exclusively of domras.

The orchestra was founded in 1992. Valerii Ivko — an outstanding musician, domra performer, composer, and educator — realized his dream of creating an orchestra of virtuoso domra players while working in Donetsk at the time. The idea behind the ensemble and the essence of its artistic concept are reflected in its meaningful name. “Lik Domer” — “the face of domras” — symbolizes unity through musical creativity, shared values, and a common humanistic vision.

Throughout its more than 30-year history, the orchestra has showcased contemporary domra performance at international festivals, artistic projects, and numerous concert programmes. Due to Russia’s military aggression, the ensemble has undergone several reorganizations since 2014. Today, Lik Domer Chamber Orchestra, whose members are young musicians from different regions of Ukraine, preserves its traditions and continues to enrich Ukraine’s musical and instrumental heritage.

Admission requires a ticket to the territory of the St. Sophia of Kyiv National Reserve (UAH 500 — full price, UAH 250 — discounted ticket).
Combat veterans do not need to purchase an entrance ticket.
