Documentary Film “Empowered” | Pre-Premiere Screening

The “Watch Ukrainian!” Association presents a pre-premiere screening of Empowered, a new feature-length documentary created as part of the international initiative Culture vs War.

Our team has spent the past eighteen months working on this film to tell the world about Ukraine through the personal stories of its protagonists—its values, its people, and those who are shaping the country's present and future.

Through the stories of remarkable Ukrainians — including human rights defender Oleksandra Matviichuk, singer Jamala, violinist Bohdana Pivnenko, kobzar Taras Kompanichenko, artist Anatolii Kryvolap, the band DakhaBrakha, and cinematographer Serhii Mykhalchuk — the film portrays a country that, even amid Russia's full-scale war, continues not only to defend its freedom but also to create culture, uphold human rights, develop the arts, and shape the future.

Empowered presents Ukraine as a nation capable of strengthening the world through its people, culture, innovation, and experience in defending freedom. It is a story about shared values, international partnership, and a country that is essential to the future of Europe.

This screening marks the film's first meeting with audiences. More details about the official premiere will be announced soon.

The Empowered project is implemented by the “Watch Ukrainian!” Association as part of the Culture vs War initiative, with the support of the European Union in Ukraine and the MHP-Hromadi Foundation, and with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Admission to the event is free with a valid entrance ticket to the Saint Sophia of Kyiv National Conservation Area (UAH 500 regular / UAH 250 concession).
