Veterans' Theatre
A Documentary Film about the Ukrainian Experience of Healing through Culture

The Ukrainian Association Watch Ukrainian! will soon present the documentary film Veterans' Theatre, created as part of the international project Culture vs War. Capable.

The film follows Ukrainian veterans of the Russo-Ukrainian War, active service members, combat medics, and volunteers as they embark on a journey of rehabilitation through theatre, reinterpreting their experiences through the transformative power of art.

At the heart of the story is the Veterans' Theatre and its production of Eneida, directed by Olha Semioshkina, with Akhtem Seitablaiev, Artistic Director of the Veterans' Theatre. The participants are involved in every stage of the creative process—from developing the script and the first rehearsals to the successful premiere. The camera closely observes the making of the performance, revealing how artistic creation becomes a tool for healing, social reintegration, and rebuilding life after war, while the stage becomes a space of trust, support, and new beginnings.

The project presents an innovative approach to working with traumatic experience, demonstrating how art can serve as a powerful instrument for reflection, recovery, and social inclusion. The film shows how the creative process helps its participants regain inner strength, reinterpret their experiences, and discover new possibilities for the future.

At the same time, the documentary broadens its perspective to society as a whole, illustrating how war transforms human relationships and calls for new forms of interaction. In this context, the Veterans' Theatre emerges as a model that can be adapted in other communities as a meaningful response to the challenges of post-traumatic recovery.

Veterans' Theatre is part of the international multimedia project Culture vs War. Capable, developed by the Watch Ukrainian! Association. Addressed to international audiences, the project presents the Ukrainian experience as an example of resilience, responsibility, and the vital role of culture in recovery and social transformation.

FREE ADMISSION
Admission to the screening is free with a valid entrance ticket to the Saint Sophia of Kyiv National Conservation Area (UAH 500 standard / UAH 250 concession).
Tickets and festival passes are available online.
Combat veterans are admitted to the museum grounds free of charge.
