The exhibition Life in Art, Cinema and Philosophy is dedicated to the memory of Oleh Pavliuchenkov (1971–2026) — a Ukrainian cinematographer, film director, photographer, philosopher, inventor, and cultural figure.
The exhibition reveals the many dimensions of an artist for whom photography was not merely a way of documenting reality, but above all a means of reflecting on time, humanity, and culture. His photographs are more than captured moments; they invite viewers to look closely, discover hidden meanings, and experience the beauty of the world and humanity's place within it.
Oleh Pavliuchenkov was a man of encyclopaedic knowledge, boundless energy, and remarkable inner freedom. He thought on a grand scale, dreamed boldly, and believed deeply in the transformative power of culture. For him, science, art, and philosophy were not separate disciplines but a single path toward understanding the world and the human condition.
This exhibition offers an opportunity to encounter Oleh Pavliuchenkov's world once again and to express gratitude to an artist whose photographs, films, ideas, and creative projects continue to inspire and reveal new meanings.
Oleh Pavliuchenkov (22 June 1971 – 22 May 2026) was a Ukrainian cinematographer, film director, photographer, inventor, philosopher, and cultural figure.
He founded the Technomedia Studio and made an outstanding contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema and the preservation of its heritage. Under his leadership, more than fifty feature and documentary films were digitally restored, including Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, Man with a Movie Camera, The Lost Letter, The White Bird Marked with Black, The Stone Cross, Chasing Two Hares, and many others.
In the final years of his life, Pavliuchenkov devoted himself to interdisciplinary projects combining cinema, theatre, music, and philosophy. He served as artistic director, stage director, and co-author of the libretto for the opera Thebes, and co-created the lecture series The Renaissance: Philosophy of the Past and the Future for the National University of Ostroh Academy.
Bouquet Kyiv Stage and Oleh Pavliuchenkov
We remember with deep gratitude our collaboration with Oleh Pavliuchenkov in 2022. At Bouquet Kyiv Stage, he presented the first wartime edition of the festival's Conversations Under the Ash Tree entitled The Practice of Renewal. Performative Poetry. A particularly meaningful chapter in our shared history was the first international edition of Bouquet Kyiv Stage in Oxford, where we had the privilege of seeing the ancient city through his eyes.
