In his memorial solo recital Homage to Schumann, pianist Yevhen Hromov will perform one of the largest piano cycles by the German Romantic composer Robert Schumann — Bunte Blätter (Colored Leaves), Op. 99. Composed over the course of fourteen years, these fourteen character pieces and more expansive piano works may be regarded as a musical microcosm of Schumann's artistic world.

In dialogue with this mature Schumann masterpiece, the program will feature one of the most poetic variation cycles by the young Johannes Brahms — Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, Op. 9. The work is based on the F-sharp minor Album Leaf (Bunte Blätter, Op. 99, No. 4) and is dedicated to Clara Wieck-Schumann, the pianist and composer who was the muse of both Schumann and his younger friend and protégé, Brahms.

The recital concludes with Schumann's Moments, a cycle of five piano pieces composed in 2022 by the outstanding contemporary Ukrainian composer Valentyn Sylvestrov during his exile in Berlin.
