“Visual 2” is the long-awaited follow-up to the critically acclaimed Windham Hill album Visual, which was named “Ambient Album of the Year” (1996) by Wind & Wire magazine in the USA. It marks a new chapter in the passionate, decades-long collaboration between Norwegian pianist Øystein Sevåg and guitarist Lakki Patey.
This concert will be entirely based on the material from the new album Visual 2 and will be performed live for the first time, featuring several pieces from the original Visual (1994).
Thirty years after its release, Visual has proven its enduring appeal in the ambient and neoclassical genres: last year alone, the album garnered over 6 million streams and 1 million listeners on Spotify across more than 100 countries, 29 years after its release. Several tracks from Visual still air on Sirius XM Radio in the U.S.
The creative partnership between Patey and Sevåg began in their school years and has lasted for decades. Together, they’ve created three major projects:
Windflowers (1983), nominated for the Norwegian Spellemann Award in the jazz category
Visual (1994)
and now the long-awaited sequel, Visual 2, has been released on June 28.
Sevåg and Patey are musical “pearl hunters,” drawing inspiration from European classical music, jazz, and Indian ragas. Visual 2 once again offers a serene, enchanting charm filled with warmth and soul — a signature of these two musical visionaries. The new album continues the minimalist concept of Visual, but this time is entirely acoustic: just grand piano and acoustic guitar. Stylistically, the music blends rich improvisation with a strict compositional framework. As with the original Visual, the aim is to create one continuous, immersive musical journey for the listener.
The album is released by Siddhartha Records and distributed digitally by TheOrchard.
