The Conference of the Birds. A Musical Performance
Can music open the door to peace? Can a voice awaken the light in the heart?
On August 15, at the festival Bouquet Kyiv Stage, the Theatrical Centre “Word and Voice” together with renowned singer and actress Natalia Polovynka will invite the audience to the garden of Saint Sophia of Kyiv for a grand performance — “The Conference of the Birds”. This mystical encounter unveils the soul of the entire Ukrainian land.
The famous ensemble “Khoreia Kozatska” and Taras Kompanichenko (Kyiv), Natalia Polovynka and the refined singer-actresses of the “Word and Voice” theatre (Lviv), Ukraine’s only Steppe Chant Laboratory “Yevshan-Zillya” (Zaporizhzhia), celebrated folk singer Oleksii Zaiets (Kyiv region), virtuoso pianist Serhii Kudrynetskyi (Lviv), and exquisite costumes by designer Oksana Karavanska — all will come together to create a Ukrainian baroque garden of joy.
The programme includes “The Garden of Divine Songs” by Hryhorii Skovoroda, traditional songs and music of the Hetmanate, Ukrainian and European baroque heritage, dances, cantos, psalms, and ancient Ukrainian spiritual chants.
This is more than a performance — it is a manifestation of peace, a space of joy growing through the darkness. It is a personal act of peace — allowing the native land to sound, revealing the timeless power that heals the earth, that overcomes war, and that becomes the ever-young Garden of the Spirit in this time.
