Co-founder, Artistic Director, and conductor of the New Era Orchestra, a Ukrainian orchestra founded in 2007.

Following the outbreak of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the orchestra's first performance was a benefit concert featuring Joshua Bell at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., raising more than US$350,000 in support of UNITED24, the global fundraising initiative launched by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Tetiana Kalinichenko is currently working on reviving the orchestra's activities and advancing the long-standing vision of building a modern concert hall in Kyiv.

EDUCATION

In 2004, she graduated from the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music with a degree in Opera and Symphony Conducting, studying under Professor Vadym Hniedash.

During her time in Austria, she attended numerous conducting masterclasses, including a series of rehearsals at St. Florian Monastery in Upper Austria, where the renowned Austrian composer Anton Bruckner served as organist.

REPERTOIRE

Tetiana Kalinichenko initiated and presented the Ukrainian premieres of works by Giya Kancheli, Joaquín Rodrigo, Yasushi Akutagawa, Giovanni Sollima, and other composers.

She also introduced to Ukrainian audiences, for the first time, works by leading contemporary composers including John Adams, Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, John Tavener, Max Richter, Avner Dorman, Iannis Xenakis, Takashi Yoshimatsu, and Arturs Maskats.

More recently, she initiated and conducted the U.S. premieres of works by Ukrainian composers Yevhen Stankovych and Levko Kolodub.

INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY

Tetiana Kalinichenko pioneered collaborations in Ukraine with internationally acclaimed soloists, including Joshua Bell (violin, USA), Gautier Capuçon (cello, France), Avi Avital (mandolin, Israel/Germany), Daishin Kashimoto (First Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, Germany/Japan), Sarah Chang (violin, USA), Kit Armstrong (piano, USA), Christoph Sietzen (multi-percussion, Austria), Maurice Steger (recorder, Switzerland), among many others. At the same time, she has developed numerous projects promoting outstanding Ukrainian soloists of the new generation.

In 2024, she served as Assistant Conductor to Jaap van Zweden with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Jaap van Zweden is one of the world's leading conductors and has served as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

During a short-term residency in January 2026, she conducted The Orchestra Now at Bard College (New York) and initiated the participation of renowned Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Tkachenko in the programme.
