EDUCATION
Graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine as a composer.
AWARDS AND HONORS
Oleksii is a partner of the Goethe-Institut in Kyiv. In collaboration with the Goethe-Institut, he curated interdisciplinary art laboratories Intersection of Parallels in Tashkent and Munich.
REPERTOIRE
Oleksii Shmurak focuses on 20th-century composers’ music, the re-examination of Ukrainian composed music, and building bridges between academic music and other genres and discourses.
INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY
Oleksii has presented numerous performances and multimedia projects at venues such as Akademie der Künste Berlin, Theaterhaus Stuttgart, WDR Hall Cologne, International Summer Courses for New Music Darmstadt, Muffatwerk Munich, and the Warsaw Philharmonic. His works have been performed in the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland, Armenia, Georgia, and Latvia.
