A theatrical excursion of Sofia Kyivska
A group of people put on their headphones and set out on a trip about Sofia Kyivska. They are guided by a female voice. Who is that? Maybe, Sofia itself? Step by step, the voice leads them through the most magnificent historical monument of the city. Following the voice they will go back a thousand years. What has the cathedral seen? What mysteries does it preserve? Yaroslav the Wise was creating a prototype of an ideal city in this cathedral. How do we read this cipher? How do we decipher it? Does the modern Kyiv correlate with it?
The group of people moves further, but there are even more questions. And eventually the foci shift. It turns out that the cathedral is just a pretext to converse with your own self. To see the people walking abreast of you. To look into their eyes and see the sky of the ancient Kyiv in them.
And then to walk out into the street with a clear understanding that our city, as well as our life – is a garden which is worth attending to.
The author of the idea is Dmytro Zakhozhenko, a director of the New Drama Theatre on Pechersk.
